Dan's innate ability to create inviting and unique home spaces was proven at the age of 10 when he successfully rearranged his parents' home while they were out to dinner. His parents encouraged and affirmed this exercise for many years. Dan has family lineage to design as well. His grandfather owned Berger Iron Works, an ornamental iron work company that designed and manufactured residential and commercial projects including wrought iron stair railings, ornate gas light fixtures and fencing / motorcar gates. You will see his grandfather’s beautiful work in some of the most prestigious homes throughout Houston, particularly in Memorial and River Oaks. Being raised in a family of creatives had a significant impact on Dan’s formative design sense.

During his professional career while selling luxury custom goods to architects and interior designers, Dan witnessed a strong demand from a new generation of buyers. Today’s clients require a transparent and no nonsense approach when buying home furnishings, whether it be exclusive trade or mainstream retail sourcing. As a result, Dan Alan Design created a streamlined and simplified approach to design that puts clients as ease.
